“Fuse at Mason Square is a building that will change everything about the nature of this campus and how it serves the community... we are not just breaking ground on a building—we are truly breaking ground on Virginia’s future.”
Dr. Gregory Washington
President, George Mason University
A new, 345,000-square-foot hub for digital innovation, Fuse creates a peerless innovation experience by providing unparalleled access to one of the largest tech talent pipelines in Virginia and to industry-influenced research. By integrating collaborative labs, workspaces, and proactive and curated programming, Fuse promotes the exchange of new ideas and the transfer of technology between Mason’s researchers and students and industry partners to accelerate the development of digital innovation. Mason programs occupy approximately two thirds of the building, and the remaining third of the building will be leased to industry partners.
The facility includes specialized robotics, virtual reality, simulation, security, and data visualization labs, along with Class-A office space, ground floor retail, collaborative common areas, and indoor and outdoor event spaces. Fuse is a net-zero energy facility with a Fitwel two-star rating and is anticipated to achieve LEED Platinum certification.
