Edgemoor Infrastructure & Real Estate and our partner Sunflower Development Group were proud to receive the 2026 P3 Award for Best Education and Higher Education Project for the University of Kansas (KU) Gateway District Phase 2 on October 1 in New York City.
“The judges felt this project stood out as an exceptional use of the DBFOM P3 model, bringing together multiple asset types and tailored solutions within one highly complex development. Its scale was considered to be impressive, and the approach demonstrates strong innovation, effective risk management, and a clear ability to solve diverse project challenges through a unified delivery strategy,” stated P3 Bulletin.
The project transforms 3.25 acres immediately adjacent to David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium into an activated, year-round, revenue-generating destination. In 2024, Edgemoor’s University of Nevada, Reno, Mathewson Gateway Project received the P3 Award for Best Education and Higher Education Project. The 2026 award is a reflection of Edgemoor’s continued leadership and excellence in developing higher education facilities.

Additionally, Edgemoor Development Manager Bill Masson received Highly Commended recognition in the Future Leader of the Year category and was recently identified as part of the P3 Bulletin inaugural Next Generation cohort. Bill currently leads development of the University of Florida-Jacksonville project and was the development manager of Fuse at Mason Square, a 345,000 square-foot innovation hub in Arlington, Virginia.
